Obituary of Edward J. Flesch

Edward Joseph Flesch Age 90 of Big Flats, NY. Edward was born January 16, 1935 in Milwaukee, WI, son of the late John J. and Marie (Mangan) Flesch. He passed peacefully away in the care of the Bath VA Medical Center on Saturday, March 22nd 2025. He served in the Air Force during Viet Nam, from 1955 until his retirement in 1980. He attained the rank of Senior Master Sergeant and served as a Mortuary Transport Officer during his active duty. Edward married his wife, Angela in Taurianova, Italy on April 21st, 1965. After his military career, Edward worked for the United States Postal Service in Elmira. He also found a calling as a substitute teacher for the Elmira and Horseheads School Districts for many years. With his extensive service record, Edward also found himself serving as the curator for the Wings of Eagles Discovery Center in Big Flats for over 10 years. He is survived by his wife Angela (Ruggiero); son John Carl Flesch; daughter Rose Marie (Daniel) Flatt; grandchildren Taylor (Summer) & Connor Flesch, and Abigail Marlowe Flatt; great granddaughter Emelia Flesch; brother Robert George Flesch; along with his brothers in law and sisters in law, several nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews; neighbors, and dear friends. Family and friends are invited to visit the Barber Funeral Home, 413 S. Main St., on Thursday, March 27th, 2025 from 4 to 6 pm. His Mass of Christian Burial to will be held Friday, March 28th, 2025 at 10 am at St. Mary Our Mother Church, 816 West Broad Street, Horseheads, NY with Rev. Christopher E. Linsler officiating. Committal prayers and interment will follow with full military honors in St. Mary Our Mother Cemetery.
