Mr. Palmer was an exceptional teacher and human. He was so dedicated to our community and student body. I loved him when I was in grade school (Saturday mornings at Ridge Road School -- it amazed me a teacher would work on Saturday), and again as coach to my sons on the high school wrestling team. He will be greatly missed. Condolences to you his family. May God's presence be felt as you pass through this most difficult time.

Mr Palmer was my Driver Ed teacher, but what I remember him most as is my wrestling coach. I was on the team with Mr Palmers oldest son Gene and many other great athletes. With the outstanding coaching we had we were able the produce a undefeated season I believe 74-75. A few years back my wife and I were driving back to millport to see family. On the way down Cemetery Hill Rd. I saw Mr Palmer out mowing his lawn and stopped to say hello. I ask him if he remembered me and told him I was Dan Furnkranz and he said oh, the switch man. (wrestlers will understand). Was so glad my wife got to meet him.

Cow tipping Hank.
Putting the main sail in/up on the sailboat.

From afar, Mr. Palmer was a quiet giant....and is missed, but not forgotten.
FREE BEER! Thanks Gene. (the boys choreographed us to HOLLAR OUT during get together(s).)

Danny and family, sorry for your loss. But what I live lived. What an incredible obituary. I thought I knew him, but clearly he had many talents that I was not aware. I spent most of my teens at the Palmerosa hanging out with the Palmer boys and playing many games that combined basketball with wrestling and WWE type rhetoric. Gene was always supportive of his boys and the multiple friends who spent time at his home. Was fortunate to be able to host Gene and Danny at my home this December. I was a pleasure having him spend time with my family.

Mr.Palmer was my driver’s Ed teacher 50 years ago! I was the only one in our car class that already had a license so I drove last and he ALWAYS had a joke or funny comment about my driving! He was so kind I’ve spoken to others about him over the years. Even after graduating he always stopped and talked. Great memories of a great man! From one Veteran to another …

Gene was the spark of humor that we needed in the faculty room and he was always keen to be part of a practical joke. We never knew what to expect, but we knew it would make us laugh!

Rest easy, Mr Palmer. Since becoming friends with son Dan in 7th grade, I have many fond memories of you as a teacher and as Dan’s Dad. All of “Palmer’s Pinner’s” have the best of memories of you! God Blessings
