Obituary of Allena McGlaughlin

McGlaughlin, Allena L. Daughter of Cindy Haberfield and the late Carl McGlaughlin, born in Wheeling, West Virginia on September 21, 1970, and currently of Horseheads, New York, passed away peacefully at the age of 55 on January 19, 2026, at the Vincent House in Wayland, New York. Survivors left to cherish her memory are her mother Cindy; siblings Jodie (Rick) Crowley, and Jeff (Angela) McGlaughlin; nephew Kiernan Crowley; nieces Kaitlin (Lucas) Marlatt, Alexandra McGlaughlin, and Keira McGlaughlin; best friend Lisa Kuhnel; along with many loved aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Allena's greatest joy came from being an aunt. Her nieces and nephew were the center of her world, and she never missed an opportunity to support them. She traveled to many birthday parties, concerts and sporting events, and was especially grateful to journey to Montana this past summer to celebrate Lucas and Kaitlin's wedding. One of the family's most beloved traditions was the annual Easter Egg Hunt Allena arranged. Each year she hid hundreds of eggs, selecting prizes with care so that every niece and nephew received something chosen just for them. These joyful moments—alive with laughter, anticipation, and thoughtfulness—will forever be held in her family's hearts. Allena found deep happiness in nature, especially while camping, kayaking or staying active playing softball and volleyball. Indoors, her artistic talents flourished as she played clarinet with the local orchestra and crafted beautiful ceramics. A devoted communicant of St. Matthew's Episcopal Church in Horseheads, Allena's faith and community were central parts of her life. Her deep love for animals was evident to all; her home was often a haven for dachshund foster dogs she lovingly cared for until they found their forever families. Family and friends are invited to visit the Barber Funeral Home, 413 S. Main St., in Horseheads, NY, on Tuesday, January 27th, 2026 from 12:00pm – 2:00pm. Her Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 2:00pm across the street at St. Matthews Episcopal Church, 408 S Main St, Horseheads, NY 14845.
