Obituary of Jacquelyn R. Emerson

EMERSON, Jacquelyn R. Age 69 and longtime resident of Erin passed away on Friday, May 22, 2015, in Cleveland, OH following a long illness. Jackie was born on November 9, 1945, in Elmira, NY, to Raymond and Marguerite (Blauvelt) Smith. Jackie is survived by her husband of 49 years, Sterling “Shep” Emerson, as well as her son and daughter-in-law, Brian and Claudine Emerson of Bar Mills, ME., and daughter and son-in-law, Kathleen and Edward Britton of Spencerport, N.Y. Jackie is also survived by her grandchildren, Isabelle and Abigail Emerson and Raymond and Joshua Britton, as well as many extended family members and close and caring friends. Jackie worked as a medical secretary in the office of Dr. Smith and retired from the Guidance Office at Horseheads High School. She was a life-long Erin resident, a member of the Erin United Methodist Church and a member of the Erin Scotchtown Cemetery Board. She was also active in 4-H, the Erin Preschool program, and the Erin Food Co-Op. Family and friends are invited to call at the Barber Funeral Home, 413 S. Main St., Horseheads on Monday, June 1, 2015, from 5-7:00 pm. Her service will be celebrated in the Erin United Methodist Church, 52 Church Rd, Erin on Tuesday, June 2, 2015, at 10:00 am with the Rev. Kevin Austin officiating.
