Obituary of George J. Jones

Jones, George J. Age 90, formerly of Erin, NY, passed away Sunday morning, May 24, 2015, in AZ. George was born on March 30, 1925, in Spencer, NY to the late Fred L. and Lula (Bixby) Jones. He was a graduate of Breesport High School and served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. George married his wife, Sarah (Elston) Jones on May 10, 1947, in Breesport Baptist Church. He was predeceased by his brother, Charles (Bill) Jones; and sister, Edna (Jones) Ervay. In addition to his wife, George is survived by his children, Dovie (Gerry) Carpenter of Pearce, AZ, George (Marilou) Jones Jr. of Knoxville, TN, Jerry (Jeanne) Jones of Lawrenceville, PA and William (Carol) Jones of Tucson, AZ; five grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; his brother, Edward (Margaret) Jones of Athens, PA; and several nieces and nephews. George retired from Dalrymple Gravel and Contracting in August of 1986 as an equipment operator with 30 years of service.
