Obituary of Marianne O'Rourke

O’Rourke, Marianne M. Age 78 of Babcock Rd. in Horseheads passed away Feb. 24, 2016 while visiting in Florida. Marianne was born July 29, 1937 in Mineville, NY to Charles and Anna (May) Martin. She was predeceased by her sister Victoria Lillian in 1959, by her father in 1997, mother in 2004, son Thomas in 2006 and brother, C. Stan Martin in 2011. She is survived by her daughter, Victoria Siptrott of Painted Post, NY Brother, Donald L. (Lee) Martin of Edgewater, MD; sister-in-law, Bonnie Martin of Horseheads and daughter-in-law, Nancy O’Rourke of Severn, MD; Grandchildren, Jeffery and Matthew Siptrott and Kara and Michael O’Rourke; great granddaughter, Kira Lynn Siptrott. Marianne was employed by the Odessa-Montour Central School District and retired in 2000 after nearly 40 years of teaching. She belonged to the Delta Kappa Gamma, Schuyler County Retired Teachers Association, and the Women of the Moose. Marianne also was a member of the Red Hat Society and always enjoyed a good game of Bunco. She enjoyed being outside at her camper on Cayuga Lake with great friends, Gregg and Nancy Beach and on the area golf courses with her golfing buddies and friends. Family and friends are invited to call at the Barber Funeral Home 413 S. Main St. Horseheads on Wed. March 3, 2016 from 4-7:00 pm. A service celebrating her life will take place there at the funeral home on Thurs at 10:00 am with the Rev. Jeannie Blyler officiating.
