Obituary of Roberta S. Patocka

PATOCKA, Roberta S. (Clark) Age 89 of Old Ithaca Rd., Horseheads and long time resident of Prospect Hill Rd. passed away after a brief illness on Tues Mar. 8, 2016. Bertie was born Aug. 7, 1926 in Wayne, NY, to Martin and Lillian (Beam) Clark. She was predeceased by her husband Joseph in 1999 and infant son, Gerald. She is survived by her daughter and sons, JoAnn (Jim) Hunt, Bruce (Eileen) Patocka and Martin Patocka all of Horseheads; Grandchildren, Amy (Michael) Sell of Leesburg, VA, Katie (John) Santarelli of Aldie, VA, Bradley Patocka of Corning, NY, and Travis (Valerie Cady) Patocka of Horseheads, NY, 5 great grandchildren; nephews, Robert Francisco, Edward Coolbaugh, and niece, Nancy Smith. Roberta was a wonderful upbeat person-who when you came in contact with her, made you feel up beat too… the world was a better place because of her. Bertie was always full of wit and enjoyed visiting friends. She was a devoted homemaker and also worked in the cafeteria with the Horseheads Central School District. Roberta was an active member of Pine Valley United Methodist Church, Board of Trustees, Missions Committee and Choir. She was active in the Horseheads Food pantry and local crop walks. Bertie loved spending time with her family and her cat Sabrina. Born and always remaining a part of the Wayne, NY community, Bertie loved spending her summers at the family cottage on Waneta Lake. Family and friends are invited to call at the Barber Funeral Home 413 S. Main St. Horseheads on Friday Mar. 11, 2016 from 1-3:00 and 5-7:00 pm Her service will take place there at 7:00 pm. Burial service in McDowell Cemetery in Wayne, NY.
