Obituary of Arthur M. Evans, Jr.

EVANS, Arthur M., Jr. Age 77 of Van Etten passed away at home surrounded by his family on March 28, 2016. Art was born March 31, 1938, in Elmira, NY, to the late Arthur Evans, Sr. and Nellie (Lattin) Evans. Art was predeceased by his wife, Rose in 2010. His surviving family includes their daughter and sons, Joyce Evans, Joe Evans, Ernie (Shelley) Evans all of Van Etten, NY; grandchildren, Ashley, Aleshia, Cassidy, and Gabriella; great grandchildren, Madelynn and Lyla Mae; siblings, Elizabeth and Roland Vanskiver of Erin, Frederick and Shirley Evans of Lockwood, Gene and Marge Evans also of Lockwood, James and Michelle Evans of VanEtten, William “Ted” and Pat Evans of Waverly, Wanda and Walter Matlack of Erin, NY; and sister-in-law, Donna Evans of Elmira; and many nieces and nephews. Art was also predeceased by his brother, Richard Evans; and sister, Clair Cook Art was a devoted husband, dedicated grandfather and great grandfather and “the best Dad anyone could have.” Art was retired from the Town of Van Etten where he worked as an equipment operator. He was also a longtime bus driver for Spencer Van Etten Schools and lifelong farmer. Family and friends are invited to call at the Barber Funeral Home, 413 South Main Street, Horseheads on Thursday, March 31, 2016, from 4-7:00 pm. His service will take place in the funeral home on Friday, April 1, 2016, at 10:00 am. Interment service to follow in Mount Hope Cemetery in Van Etten.
