Obituary of William A. Carey

Carey, William A. age 69 of Horseheads, NY, passed away Monday, August 8, 2016, at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester, NY. William was born in Elmira, NY, to the late Gordon and Geraldine (Coon) Carey. He is survived by his loving family, wife, Janet E. (Hill) Carey of Horseheads; son, William (Nicole) Carey of Gillett, PA; daughter, Kim (Craig ) Hogan of Willseyville, NY; step-daughter, Kathe (Dan) Sempler of Breesport; grandchildren, Steve (Lauren) Carey, Mike (Megan) Carey and Kaelee Carey, Kayla, Joshua and Jaedon Laudenslager, Sarah (David) Sempler Benson and Ryhan (Jessica) Sempler; great grandchildren, Jacob and Madilyn Benson, Bryson and Gianni Carey; sister, Judy (Jerry) Tompkins of Horseheads, NY; many extended family members and friends including Ray (Ethel) Frost of Montour Falls, NY. Bill retired from Schuyler County Sheriff’s Department as a Corrections Officer. He was a member of Myrtle-Jefferson Lodge #131 F. & A. M., Horseheads Moose, Horseheads Elks and American Legion. Family and friends are invited to call at the Barber Funeral Home, Inc., 413 S. Main St., Horseheads on Thursday, August 11, 2016 from 3-5:00 pm. His service will follow at the funeral home at 5:00 pm. Interment in Maple Grove Cemetery, Horseheads on Friday morning at 9:30am.
