Obituary of Charles E. Ontl

Ontl, Charles E. Age 78 of Elmira Heights. He was born January 30, 1939 the son of the late Joseph and Mary (Masin) Ontl. He went to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday November 1, 2016 at Saint Joseph's Hospital. Charles is survived by his loving wife of 59 years: Dorothy J (Ordway): Daughters: Debbie and Mark Shumaker of Elmira Heights: Penny and Ray Taylor of Clifford Township PA: Son Randy and Lynn Ontl of Davenport, NY. Sister: Helen Schoffner of Lowman, NY. 9 Grandchildren: Elisha, Matthew and Tara, Steven, Rebecca, Casey, Michael, Joseph, Ezra: 7 Great Grandchildren: Derek, Grace, Daniel, Emma, Samuel, Hailey, Camryn, and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins. He retired from the Chemung County Highway Department and was a previous volunteer of the Elmira Heights Fire Department. Charles was a member of the Hillcrest Baptist Church Family. He was a serving board member for the Association of Child Character. Charles was pre-deceased by his brother Joseph Ontl and sister Rose Naida. He loved camping with his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. He also loved hunting with Randy and exchanging hunting stories with his grandsons. We would like to extend our gratitude to the endless list of people who cared for our father at Saint Joseph's Care Home and the Arnot Hospital. The family will receive friends at Barber's Funeral Home 413 S. Main St. Horseheads Monday Nov. 7, 2016 from 3-6:00 pm. His service will be celebrated there on Tues. Nov 8, 2016 at 10:00 am.
