Obituary of Gary R. Hauver

Hauver, Gary R. age 69 of Shull Lane in Horseheads, NY, passed away surrounded by his family on Thursday, February 2, 2017 at Bethany Manor. Gary was born in Elmira to Frank Raymond and Martha (Terwilliger) Hauver. Gary was predeceased by his wife of 31 years, Patricia A. (Hesselbarth) Hauver, in 2010. He is survived by his loving daughter and son-in-law, Renee A. and Michael D. Wheeler of Horseheads; granddaughter, Britney E. Wheeler also of Horseheads; brother, Bruce (Barbara) Hauver of Elmira, NY; several nieces and nephews, including Bruce (Jackie) Hauver II, Brian (Tonya) Hauver and Brad Hauver; great nieces and nephews; in- laws; extended family members; many friends; and co-workers. Gary had been employed in the kitchen at Bethany Village for over 10 years. He also was employed at Robinson Lumber as well as various other businesses including LaValley-McLeod. Raised around Hauver’s Music Store in Elmira, he remained involved in music assisting with the Sayre High School Band. Gary was an accomplished baritone sax and clarinet player. Gary also enjoyed trains and cars and also building model trains and cars. Family and friends are invited to call at the Barber Funeral Home, Inc., 413 S. Main St., Horseheads on Monday, February 6, 2017 from 4-7:00 pm. His service will follow at 7:00 pm. Interment beside his wife on Tuesday, February 7 at 9:00 am in St. Mary Our Mother Cemetery, Horseheads.
