Obituary of Mary Teresa (Searles) Farr

Farr, Mary Teresa (Searles) age 85 of Horseheads, NY, passed away peacefully Tuesday, March 21, 2017 at St. Joseph’s Hospital. Mary Teresa was born in Elmira, NY, to the late Frederick and Teresa (Skebey) Searles. She was predeceased by her loving husband, Charles W. Farr, in 1996; and brothers, Frederick and Robert Searles. Mary Teresa is survived by daughters, Ann T. Farr of Horseheads, and Jean M. Gorton of Leland, NC; grandsons, John (Jill) Gorton, Brian Gorton, great grandchildren, Pierce, Ansley, Mary Grace, Hollis, and Mila; sister-in-law, Marilyn Searles; nephews, David, Scott, and Mark Searles; and numerous cousins. Mary Teresa was a graduate of Southside High School as well as St. Joseph’s School of Nursing. She was employed with St. Joseph’s Hospital as a registered nurse for many years. Mary Teresa was also a past volunteer with the National Warplane Museum and Horseheads Library; a member of the Eagles Auxillary and attended First Baptist Church in Elmira. She was an avid reader and enjoyed knitting and crocheting and her garden. Funeral services will be held at a later date at the convenience of the family. The family would like to thank Dr. Calderone, Dr. Schiavone, and the staff at St. Joe’s for their kind and compassionate care.
