Obituary of Patrcia M. (Miers) Blair

Patricia M. (Miers) Blair Age 94, formerly of Horseheads, NY, passed away Tuesday, April 25, 2017 in Boyds, MD surrounded by her loving family. Patricia was predeceased by her loving husband of almost 55 years, Howard E. Blair, Jr., in 1999. She is survived by her children Judith Higgins of Ijamsville, MD; Stephen (Cynthia) Blair of Boyds, MD; Gary (Katherine) Blair of Land-O-Lakes, FL; and Patricia (Jonathan) Strohl of Horseheads,NY; grandchildren Stephen (Janis Banks) Blair, Jennifer (Jeffrey) Leaird, Diana (Ian) Slade, Susan Chaney, Emily (Justin) Barius, Adam (Korina) Blair, Matthew (Angela Shope) Strohl, Joshua (Isabel Garcia) Strohl, and Alexis (Michael Bryan) Strohl; thirteen great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Patricia was born in Elmira, NY, to the late Harry and Frances (Sweet) Miers. She was a graduate from EBI where they liked her so much they hired her. She was the long-time office administrator for Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church in Horseheads, which she and Howard helped to found. Ultimately, she retired from Horseheads High School as a secretary. She was an avid doer of crossword puzzles; loved painting ceramics, reading books, watching professional sports and always made sure her bird feeders were full. "Something she was known for saying and would like to hear at the end of any memorial of her life was 'and a good time was had by all.'" Family and friends are invited to call at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church, 2872 Westinghouse Road, Horseheads, on Tuesday, May 2, 2017 from 11:00AM – 12noon. Her funeral service will be held at the conclusion of calling hours at 12:00 noon. Interment to follow in Maple Grove Cemetery.
