Obituary of Dorothy Lawrence

LAWRENCE, Dorothy M. Age 102 went home to the Lord and be reunited with her husband on April 1, 2018. Dorothy was born Dec. 29, 1915 in Litchfield, NY, daughter of the late Danford A. and Cecile (Comes) Wheelock. She was predeceased by her husband Ivan in 2008; brothers, Danford (Elizabeth) Wheelock and Allen Wheelock; cousin Fred Casler, James Coughlin and Dorothy Comes. She is survived by her son, Peter Lawrence of Hector, NY; numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews, special cousin-in-law, Sally Coughlin and special great-nephew, Justin Wheelock and several dear church family and friends. Dorothy and her husband were longtime residents of Old Ithaca Rd. and longtime members of the First Presbyterian Church in Horseheads. Dorothy was a graduate of the Utica Memorial Hospital School of Nursing and worked as an RN for the City of Syracuse and Crouse Irving Hospital. She was also a Volunteer for the American Red Cross and Boy Scouts of America. At the age of 102, Dorothy often looked back at her medical training and was always amazed as to the advances in Medicine since she started her career.
