Obituary of John Henry Hoyles II

HOYLES, John Henry II ALL ARE INVITED TO HARRIS HILL, PAVILLION #2 ON SATURDAY, JUNE 16TH 2018 FROM 12 PM; BRING A DISH TO PASS AND SHARE STORIES OF JOHN. John lost his battle with cancer on June 10th, 2018; he was at home resting peacefully with his wife and mother by his side. He was predeceased by his half-brother, Jason Hoyles, step father Stuart Brimmer, father and mother in law Thomas Jankowski and Mary Gilbert, and uncle Tim Castle. John is survived by his loving wife Donna Jankowski; his mother Judith A. Brimmer; father John Henry Hoyles; sons Daniel Hoyles and Justin (Erica) Hoyles; daughters Ashley Hoyles and Rachelle (Paul) Miller; grandchildren Cylis, Lyra, Isaac, Ava, Hope, and Owen, half-brother James Hoyles; along with several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, brothers and sisters-in-law, and great nieces and nephews. John graduated from Horseheads High School in 1976. He served his country in the U.S. Army. He then worked for the city of Ithaca before touring the country in eighteen wheelers as an owner operator for Trucker’s Express, Pro Fleet, Transport National, Bob Ingersol Hauling, and Fed Ex Ground. John enjoyed camping, fishing, and outdoor life in general. He was constantly stopping at yard sales and auctions in search of ‘treasures’. John also had a love of trains which he shared with his grandchildren and his best friend, his brother-in-law, Marc Terpolilli. John eagerly help his childhood best friend, Joe Straight, build his house from bottom to top. A favorite saying was “Suck it up, Buttercup”. John fought to the last breath and was an inspiration to many. John will be laid to rest in a private ceremony in Woodlawn National Cemetery, Elmira in recognition for his military service.
