John is survived by his loving wife Donna Jankowski; his mother Judith A. Brimmer; father John Henry Hoyles; sons Daniel Hoyles and Justin (Erica) Hoyles; daughters Ashley Hoyles and Rachelle (Paul) Miller; grandchildren Cylis, Lyra, Isaac, Ava, Hope, and Owen, half-brother James Hoyles; along with several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, brothers and sisters-in-law, and great nieces and nephews.

John enjoyed camping, fishing, and outdoor life in general. He was constantly stopping at yard sales and auctions in search of ‘treasures’. John also had a love of trains which he shared with his grandchildren and his best friend, his brother-in-law, Marc Terpolilli. John eagerly help his childhood best friend, Joe Straight, build his house from bottom to top. A favorite saying was “Suck it up, Buttercup”. John fought to the last breath and was an inspiration to many.
John will be laid to rest in a private ceremony in Woodlawn National Cemetery, Elmira in recognition for his military service.
