Obituary of Fannie Shih

SHIH, Fannie (Chreptak) Age 87 of Elmira Heights passed away after a long illness Sept. 30, 2018. Fannie was born in Laquin, PA to the late Michael and Catherine (Vischansky) Chreptak. She was predeceased by her devoted husband, Chung “Shir” Shih, brothers and sisters, Mary (Glen) Bailey of Troy, PA, Steve (Kay) Chreptak of Tampa, FL, Rose Chreptak of Horseheads, NY, Eva (Jerry) Hawthorne of Granville Summit, PA, Kathy Wilson of Athens, PA, Anne Parker of Elizabethton, TN, Pauline (Tom) Whipple of Horseheads NY, Pat (Dave) Wright of Canton, PA, Paul Chreptak of Elmira, NY, and Sue Woodard of Sayre, PA; foster son, Duane (Debbie) Clark of Elmira, NY, many nieces and nephews and extended family members and friends. She was also predeceased by her brothers, John, Adam and Michael Chreptak.Fannie and her late husband Shir were longtime members of Oakwood United Methodist Church where she was active in the Choir, Food Pantry, Pals Program, and Crystal Chords. Fannie was a veteran of the Navy Reserve and a Registered Nurse having worked at Binghamton State Hospital, Binghamton General Hospital and Lourdes Hospital in Binghamton. Later she worked at and retired from the Chemung County Nursing Facility. Family and friends are invited to call at the Barber Funeral Home, 413 S. Main St. Horseheads on Sat. Oct. 6, 2018 from 10:00 am-11:00 am. Her funeral service will be celebrated there at the funeral home at the conclusion of calling hours at 11:00 am. A gathering will immediately follow in The Delorme Room at Oakwood Ave. United Methodist Church. Burial in Oak Hill Cemetery in Troy, PA. Condolences at www.barberfuneralhome.com
