Obituary of Theresa A. Mitchell

Mitchell, Theresa A. Age 89 of Bath, formerly of Horseheads. She was born June 1, 1929 in Kingston, PA, the daughter of the late John and Magdelene (Supsinskiute) Yusinskas. And passed away peacefully on December 26th, 2018. In addition to her parents, Theresa was predeceased by her loving husband of nearly 40 years, Matthew T. Mitchell, in 1987; along with both of her brothers, John (Ellen) Pazauskas & Alfred (Eileen) Bradley. She is survived by her son, Matthew (Janet) Mitchell with their children; Matthew, Jacob, Joseph, & Katielyn Mitchell; daughter Rose (Larry) Perry with their children, Matthew and Jennifer; son James (Lydia) Mitchell with their children, Mary, Tina, & DeAnn; along with a host of beloved great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends Theresa worked at the Willard Facility as a nurse after obtaining her education. Upon her retirement and the loss of her husband, she found ways to enjoy life while bringing support and joy to others. She became involved with a widows & widowers support group; Theresa also volunteered at the Arnot Ogden Hospital in Elmira as well as The Samuel Clemens Center. She was creative, and belonged to the Arnot Mall’s Senior Art Center where she created art starting in the early 1990’s. She greatly enjoyed her painting, was an avid reader, and attended bible study groups regularly. Theresa has rejoined Matthew after many years apart but will be greatly missed as fondly remembered a compassionate and loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Family and friends are invited to visit the Barber Funeral Home, 413 S. Main St. in Horseheads on Sunday, December 30th, 2018 from 4 pm to 6 pm. Theresa’s Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, December 31, 2018 at 10 am at St. Mary Our Mother Catholic Church, 816 West Broad St, Horseheads Committal prayers and interment will immediately follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Corning.
