Obituary of Martha M. Faulkner
Martha M. Faulkner
Age 84 of Catlin. She was born at home in Elmira on March 26, 1937, the daughter of the late William and Mary Lucetta (Tomlinson) Hofsommer; Martha passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, September 8th 2021 surrounded by her family
In addition to her parents Martha has been predeceased by all of her older siblings; Emerson Hofsommer, Esther Pierce, Margaret Ruth Gursky, Arthur Hofsommer, Dorothy Hofsommer, and Minnie Wilsey.
She is survived by her beloved husband of nearly 48 years, Edmon Faulkner; stepchildren Edmon (Hope) Faulkner Jr, Steven Faulkner, Sharon (John) Wallace, Laura (Sherri) Coleman; along with a host of nieces, nephews, with great-nieces and great-nephews across the country, and many dear friends.
Martha retired from 40 years at Westinghouse. She was a member of her church on Madison Ave. in Elmira from the time it was known as the German Reformed Church. Martha and Edmon were married in that church on November 9th 1974, continuing what would be a 52-year journey together. While she was always a handy person on the farm for years by Edmon’s side, Martha claimed many skills and hobbies including knitting, crotchet, plastic canvas, and a love of crosswords (even though she cheated).
After retirement, Martha joined Edmon in traveling as he worked driving trucks. They continued their cross-country journeys in a camper, visiting family and enjoying each others company as they always had. Special thanks to Valeria Ferrel and Edmon’s daughter Sharon for their help in care of Martha
Family and friends are invited to visit the Barber Funeral Home, 413 S. Main St., in Horseheads on Tuesday September 14th 2021 from 4 pm to 5 pm. Martha’s funeral service will be held there at 5 pm. Rev. Floyd Simmons officiating.
