Obituary of Helen M. Woods

Helen M. Woods Age 89, formerly of Elmira Heights. She was born March 1, 1932 in Fulton, NY, the daughter of the late Joseph and Frances (Owens) McCarthy, and passed away on Monday, September 27th 2021. In addition to her parents Helen was predeceased by her loving husband of 50 years, Donald E. Woods in 1996; along with her sister Cathy Dunning. She is survived by her children, Linda Woods, Donald (Lisa) Woods, Susan Woods, Joseph Woods, and James (Kristen) Woods; brothers, William & Joseph McCarthy; along with a host of dear grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends. Helen is remembered as the rock of her family. She was always the one to be there for anyone who was in need, especially opening their home to all of her children’s’ friends. A loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, and so much more; she will be greatly missed. Private services will be held for Helen and she will be laid to rest with her husband in Scotchtown Cemetery in Erin, NY. Her family wishes to extend their thanks and gratitude to the nurses and staff at Elcor Nursing for the wonderful care that Helen received. Those wishing are asked to make a donation in Helen’s name to charity close to their hearts.
