Obituary of Duane John Smith Sr.

Duane John “Smitty” Smith, Sr. Age 82 of Horseheads, NY. Duane passed away peacefully on October 25th 2021. Duane was predeceased by his parents, Kenneth Sr. and Martha; his son Duane Jr.; brother Ken Jr. (Bea); and Dick McAtee. He is survived by his wife Barbara; daughter Lucinda; grandchildren Wesley, Heather, and Chelsea; brothers Claude (Annie), Dale (Peg), Ben (Barb), and Joe (Karen); he will be greatly missed by his stepchildren Dale (Wendi), Rick (Holly), Pat (Tom), Denise (Jeremy), along with many others of his loving extended family and dear friends. Duane served in the Marines, was an avid hunter, and enjoyed woodworking. He retired from Cedar Mt. Stone in VA, where he resided for 26 years. Family and friends are invited to visit the Barber Funeral Home, 413 S. Main St., in Horseheads, NY on Tuesday November 2nd 2021, from 4 pm to 6 pm His memorial service will be held there at 6 pm.
