Obituary of Homer E. Savey

Homer E. Savey “Bud” Age 82 of Big Flats, NY. He was born February 2, 1939 in Big Flats, the son of the late Homer M. and Alice (Davenport) Savey, and passed away on Wednesday, November 10th 2021. In addition to his parents, Homer was predeceased by his three brothers, Clarence “Steve”, Richard “Dick”, and Raymond Savey. He is survived by his wife of nearly 40 years, Linda (Nicholson) Savey; his children Darlene Savey, Billie Jo (Nick) Bartone, and Brian (Jennifer) Green; along with several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. Homer served in the U.S. Navy from 1956-1960. Afterwards he returned home to a career with Chemung County where he has left a lasting legacy for his work to build Park Station, as well as the golf course, swimming pool, driving range, and glider field at Harris Hill. He was a lifetime member of the Big Flats American Legion, Skinner-Earnest Memorial Post 1612, and The Corning Elks Lodge #1071. Family and friends are invited to visit the Barber Funeral Home, 413 S. Main St., in Horseheads, NY on Saturday, November 20th 2021 from 11 am to 1 pm. Homer’s funeral service will be held there at 1 pm, with Rev. Jim Radford officiating. Committal and interment with military honors will follow in Rural Home Cemetery in Big Flats, NY.
