Obituary of John M. Davies
DAVIES, John M.
Age 99 of Horseheads and longtime resident of Breesport and Pine Valley passed away Fri. March 11, 2011.
John was born July 8, 1911 in Wilkes Barre, PA a son to the late John and Sarah (Bolton) Davies. John was predeceased by his wife of over 75 years, Pearl on March 10, 2007.
John survived by his son, Jim Davies of Horseheads, NY;
daughters and son-in-law, Judith Shanley of Millport, NY and
Carol and William Moran of Penn Yan, NY;
7 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren; and
7 great great-grandchildren; and Sister, Marjorie (Edward) Decker.
John was also predeceased by his daughter-in-law, Edna Davies and son-in-law George Shanley, 3 brothers and 5 sisters.
Together with his wife they were owners and proprietors of Davies Dry Cleaning in Pine Valley. John was also employed by the Horseheads School District. He was a member of Breesport United Methodist Church, member and past master of F. & A. M. Southern Light Lodge #725, Royal Arch Masons and Past High Priest, Past Patron and member of Southern Light Chapter OES. Dedicated member of Breesport Volunteer Fire Department and was the first Fire Chief there.
Family and friends are invited to call at the Barber Funeral Home, 413 South Main Street, Horseheads on Tuesday, March 15, 2007 from 3-5:00 p.m. His service will also take place there at the funeral home on Tuesday at 5:00 p.m.
Interment services will take place at the convenience of her family. Those wishing may also express their sympathy with memorials to Breesport United Methodist Church, 110 Church Street, Breesport, NY 14816 or the Moreland Presbyterian Church, C/O Judy Shanley, Treasurer, 191 Johnson Hollow Road, Millport, NY 14864.
