Obituary of Russell Sleight

Russell J. Sleight Age 83 of Horseheads. He was born June 10th 1938 in Middletown, NY, the son of the late Leroy and Edna (Waltz) Sleight, and passed peacefully on the morning of March 30th 2022. Russell is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Barbara (Watkins); daughter Lisa (Thomas) Schuhle; son Rusty (Susan) Sleight; and dear grandchildren Miranda, Monica, Katie, Cody, Joshua, and Josie. As an enlisted Army MP he served in Germany, then returned home to work for 40 years as a top salesman for U. S. Foods. Russ loved a good party, and a good joke. He enjoyed beach vacations with his family, and any time spent golfing, fishing, bowling, or cooking. He always loved to play cards with his friends at AppleRidge and his weekly golf outing with his buddies. Russ was a longtime member of the Horseheads Elks Club, Lodge 2297, where he served years as a Trustee. Russ will be greatly missed by all whose lives were touched by his. Family and friends are invited to visit the Barber Funeral Home, 413 S. Main St., in Horseheads, NY on Sunday, April 3rd 2022 from 1:00 - 4:00 PM. A Mass of Christina Burial will be held at 10 am on Monday, April 4, 2022 at St. Mary Our Mother Church, 816 West Broad Street, in Horsehead. Rev. Christopher E. Linsler officiating. Committal prayers and interment will follow in St. Mary Our Mother Cemetery.
