Obituary of David L. Goodrich

GOODRICH, David L. Age 88 of Hillside Dr. in Elmira Heights passed away Sat. Mar. 12, 2011 at home surrounded by his family. Dave was born Dec. 13, 1922 in Tioga, PA, a son to the late Vern and Augustus (Heck) Goodrich. He was predeceased by his first wife Betty Goodrich in 1992 and daughter Carol Damon in 2005. He is survived by his wife, Norma (Mattison) Goodrich; sons, Glenn Goodrich of Mansfield, PA; Jerry (Dorothy) Goodrich of Oakhurst, NJ; Earl (Sharon) Goodrich of Mansfield, PA, Rick (Jackie) Goodrich of North Chemung, NY, and Greg (Maggie) Goodrich of Elmira Heights, NY; Brother, Russell Goodrich of Gillett, PA; 11 grandchildren; one great grandchild. Dave is also survived by his wife Norma’s sons and daughters and their families. Dave was a member of Elmwood Baptist Church and retired from Dairy Lea in 1987. He was a member of the Local Teamsters Union and a veteran of WWII serving in the US Army. Dave was also proud of have had the opportunity to shake the hand of Gen. George Patton during his tour of duty. He was also a member of the American Legion and VFW as well as being an avid hunter and NY Yankee Fan. Family and friends are invited to call at the Barber Funeral Home 413 S. Main St. Horseheads on Wed. Mar. 16, 2011 from 2-4:00 and 6-8:00 pm. His service will take place in the Elmwood Baptist Church 230 Elmwood Ave. Elmira Heights, NY on Thurs. Mar. 17, 2011 at 11:00 am. His burial service will take place in Oakwood Cemetery in Mansfield, PA where military honors will be accorded.
