Obituary of Kenneth Joseph Felsburg

Kenneth, a retired jeweler and avid amateur farmhand of Spencer, NY, passed away unexpectedly on June 1, 2022 at the age of 68. Kenneth is survived by his father, Kenneth Parker Felsburg Jr., his daughter Jillian A. Felsburg Thuringer (Brian); Debra L. Felsburg Dodd (Russell); Robert P. Felsburg (Ann), Kate L. Dodd; Madeline A. Felsburg, and Pat Janhonen. He was born on January 24, 1954 in Munich, Germany, to Kenneth Parker Felsburg Jr., and Loretta Jo Anne (Lythgoe) Felsburg, of the United States. Shortly after this birth, they moved back to the United States where Ken spent most of his younger years living in South Plainfield, NJ. He was joined soon by his younger siblings, Deb and Rob, and became their big protective brother. He attended South Plainfield High School for the first two years, and then the final two years Bridgewater-Raritan High School East where he graduated from in 1972. He made some life-long friends during these years and always maintained the connections he had from his childhood. He attended college at Upsala College, NJ and West Chester College, PA. He worked in heavy construction during this time in NJ and PA. He continued onto a career working in the wholesale and retail jewelry industry up to his retirement. He started his own family in 1986 with the birth of his only daughter, Jillian. He was a devoted and caring father who wholeheartedly embraced everything and exemplified what it means to have 'unconditional love'. He extended this love to all those that he touched throughout his life and was the type of man who would do anything, even to a passing stranger on the street. He was enjoyed by those he worked with and bought joy and laughter to the counters of every jewelry store and home he encountered. He retired in early 2020 and rediscovered a new passion in life. His greatest joy after retiring was farming, where he drove tractors, took care of horses, cows, pigs, his beloved dog Boots and Gracie, and even some cats. He enjoyed working hard and seeing the fruits of his labor and sharing this with those that he loved; especially his long-term partner, Pat Janhonen. His time with Pat and the farm, the community, and his family in the past ten years has been some of the happiest. He was blessed to have lived a wonderful retirement knowing he was doing what bought him joy and having those he loved and knowing he was loved. His positivity and ability to find the silver lining in every cloud will never be forgotten. A private viewing for family and invited friends will be held.
