Obituary of Norman F. Kosty

Norman Frederick Kosty Age 73 of Horseheads, NY. He was born March 19, 1950 in Corning, NY, the son of the late John Vincent and Thelma Irene (Swartz) Kosty. Norman passed away on Thursday evening, May 4th 2023. In addition to his parents, Norman was predeceased by his sister Sheila Dawn Allen. He is survived by his live in companion of over 40 years, Mary Lawson; his sons Norman E. (Linda) Kosty, and Vincent F. (Heather) Kosty; siblings Gerald "Jerry" ("Kitty") Rexford Thomas Kosty, and Robin Jill (Eugene) (Kosty) Kroeger of Springtown, TX; as well as a host of dear friends, and extended family in Corning, NY. Norman moved with his family from Corning, to Elmira, then to Horseheads in his early years. He graduated from Corning Community College with his Associates in Mechanical Engineering and went on to work for Westinghouse, SumiRail, and Hardinge, Inc. His passions and hobbies in life included softball, tennis, and golf – belonging to clubs at Mark Twain and Soaring Eagles Golf Courses. He was a remote controlled airplane enthusiast; he and the boys flew them from Harris Hill or wherever they found enough space. He owned and enjoyed several Corvettes over the years, and was known as quite the 'pool shark' with his skills. A private memorial will be held in celebration of his life. In lieu of flowers, those wishing may make a donation in his honor to Norman's love of animals, especially cats, to the Chemung County SPCA.
