Obituary of James I. Ostrum
James I. Ostrum
Age 80 of Horseheads, NY. Jim was born November 3, 1942 in St. Marys, PA, the son of the late Leon Isaac and Evelyn Jane (Atherton) Ostrum; he passed away peacefully on the morning of July 18th 2023.
In addition to his parents, Jim was predeceased by his loving wife, Carol L. (Mortimer) in 2018.
He is survived by their children, Deborah (James) Narde, and James Ostrum Jr.; dear grandchildren Stephanie Narde, Anthony Narde, Tyler Ostrum, and John Ostrum; stepbrother Bill Parker; stepsister Madonna Parker Shrout; his close friend Marscha Feshoh; along with his extended family and many dear friends.
Jim served active duty in the U.S. Navy for 4 years, continuing with the Naval Reserves for another 20 years. He worked for Quality Welding Supply, retiring from there after many years. He and Carol were owners of Key West Tan in Elmira Heights for 20 years.
Beyond work, he enjoyed racing cars at local tracks in his younger years, continuing to enjoy working on his Corvette in later years. He loved playing golf with his granddaughter, enjoying family cookouts, and took pride in his yardwork and landscaping.
Honoring his wishes, there will be no services held; Jim will be laid to rest, joining Carol in Forest Lawn Memorial Park, in Elmira.
