Obituary of Leonard Z. Wechtaluk

Leonard Z. Wechtaluk, age 94, of Horseheads, NY passed away peacefully on May 3, 2024. Leonard was born at home on February 24, 1930 in Elmira Heights, NY. He was the son of the late Zackry and Anna (Zedock) Wechtaluk. He was also predeceased by his daughter, Tammy (Wechtaluk) Guild on April 26, 2002, whom he loved and missed each day; brother Bernard (Eva) Wechtaluk, and sister Dorothy Parchomenko. Leonard is survived by his wife Elizabeth (Pack) Wechtaluk, whom he just celebrated his 72nd anniversary with on May 2. He was a caring father to Michael (Annette) Wechtaluk. He is also survived by two beloved and cherished grandchildren, Gavin Guild and Hayley (Guild) Earle. Leonard adored each of his grandchildren, and spent all the time he could with them. Leonard graduated from Thomas A. Edison High School and was drafted into the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers during the time of the Korean War. He worked for U.S. Steel, displaying his love for building and manufacturing. Although he enjoyed his job, his true passion was carpentry. He built furniture for many of his friends and family that is still loved and used to this day. He was a devoted member of the former Calvary Baptist Church where he did various jobs and woodworking projects. Leonard lived a long and full life, and will greatly be missed by all who knew him. He is now with the Lord and his beloved daughter, Tammy.
