Dear Pat and Karen,
I just wanted to send my condolences to you both on Russ''s passing. I remember him first from working as a nurse at the hospital and in more recent years at the Falck Center where he was our patient. I''m sure you''ve heard this before a million times, what a great man he was! He always came in with a smile on his face and was a pleasure to take care of. I always admired his low-key demeanor and his kindness to everyone (as well as yours.) I''m sure he will be greatly missed by all whose lives he touched. My thoughts and prayers are with you both, Kathy Pirozzolo

I speak for many in saying what an honor it was to have known and worked with Russ Knope. I came to know Russ in the mid to late 80's and early 90's, when I went from residency to fellowship to cardiologist. I had numerous interactions with him when he worked for Guthrie. I looked at him as a role model. His bedside manner was unequaled, his medical knowledge enviable, his respect for all he came in contact with to be admired. I regret that I did not take the time to keep in touch with him after his retirement. May you be comforted by the many wonderful memories we all have of him.

The passing of Dr. Knope ends a lifetime of service to his patients, and fervor for his favorite past time of bird hunting. RFK brought a dedication to his patients' welfare and health that they can attest to. The ruffed grouse population is alone in rejoicing in this news. My friendship with RFK commenced at the University of Chicago during a shared post-doctoral fellowship. It continued at the Arnot Ogden Medical Center when he joined my practice for a time. He represented my ideal of a complete physician by his integrity, professionalism and unfailing commitment to the best interests of his patients. His patients' loyalty was well deserved. He will be missed by all of us fortunate to have known him. J. Alan Reid, M.D. November 16, 2011

Dear Pat: It was with great sadness that I read of your loss of Russ. He obviously was a great doctor as well as wonderful person. Elmira was very lucky to attract and keep both of you there. I remember fondly the few times I stopped in your office to see both of you, and catch up on your lives. I still get together with the old guys, (Dean and Bud), and talk about our great high school days. I wish to send my condolences to you and your family, and if there is a heaven know that Russ is there....Jerry Dunn

Pat & Karen: My sympathy to you both on your loss. Dr. Knope was always such a gentleman and so kind to me during my years at the Arnot. I enjoyed transcribing his dictation while working in Medical Records and respected his integrity. My thoughts will be with your family during this difficult time.

Dear Mrs. Knope,
It is quite possible that you will not remember me, but my late husband, John Winters was Dr. Knope's patient. John and I both held Dr. Knope in high esteem. You were Dr. Knope's secretary during that time. John passed away in 1986. Kindly accept my condolences.
Peace to you and your daughter,
Jeanne Winters McDonald

Dr. Knope was my physician until he retired and became a friend over that period of time, as well.
I respected him, as a professional and as an individual. He was always honest, gave praise often to patients and to his staff, had a wonderful sense of humor, and always wanted to learn more, medically and personally.
He spoke about his family and the love he had for them was very obvious.
He will be greatly missed by all.

I was a patient of Dr Knope for over 30 years. He knew my fear of physicians -my blood pressure always soared when I walked into the office. Dr Knope's kind manner would always put my worries to rest. Talking to him for a few minutes quickly brought my pressure back to normal. He was a kind & very genuine man. After Dr Knope retired, I worked with several cardiologists, but never found anyone that had the same unique qualities as Dr Knope.

I was a young receptionist in the ARnot-Ogden Radiology Dept. intimidated by most physicians. Dr. Knope would come in looking for X-Rays on his patients almost daily. He always treated me , and all other staff, with the utmost kindness and respect. His interaction with me was no different than with his M.D. colleagues, the housekeeping staff, the administration. He treated everyone the same. Respect was what he gave to all of us, and, consequently, respect was what we gave back. He was a man of integrity. Pat, who worked with him, at that time, came in occasionally to pick up his x=rays. She, also, shared his kindness, respect, genuine interest in the lives of whoever she was interacting with at the time.
Forty years and a few careers later, I can honestly say...that now, as a nurse, at age 58, I am so proud to have known Dr. Knope.....and want his family to know what an inspiration he was to me.. as a person and a professional... all unbeknownst to him.
