Obituary of Margaret M. Kramer

Margaret M. "Peggie" Kramer Age 85 of County Route 64 in Big Flats passed away surrounded by her family at home Wednesday, December 21, 2011. She was born August 17, 1926 in Philadelphia, PA to George and Marion (Sullivan) McCarthy. Peggie is survived by her husband of 58 years, Edward Kramer; their sons and daughters, Peter Kramer of Elmira, NY, Douglas Kramer of Winchester, VA, Barbara Kramer of Horseheads, NY and Laura (Drew) Frye of Vienna, VA; grandchildren, Tyler, Hayden and Valerie Kramer and Jessica Frye; brother, George (Virginia) McCarthy of Hartford, CT. Peggie was retired from the Big Flats Steele Memorial Library. She graduated from Edgewood Park College in Briarcliff Manor, NY. She was a member of the Big Flats Women’s Club. Over forty years ago she brought Weight Watchers to the Elmira area. She volunteered her time to many organizations including Girl Scouts, Brownies, Cub Scouts, Chemung County Historical Society and Literacy Volunteers. Most of all a she was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. Known to those who love her as “Nana”. She was a Lady, an example we should all follow. Family and friends are invited to call at the Barber Funeral Home, 413 South Main Street, Horseheads on Tuesday, December 27, 2011 from 1‐3:00 p.m. and again from 5‐7:00 p.m. Her service will take place in the funeral home on Wednesday, December 28, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. with burial service to follow in Rural Home Cemetery.
