Obituary of Margery Stocks

STOCKS, Margery Age 102 of Horseheads and formerly of Elmira Heights, NY passed away Tuesday, January 31, 2012. Margery was born August 9, 1909 in Mold, Wales, UK to Robert E. and Barbara Dodd Thomas. In addition to her parents she is predeceased by her husband, Aaron “Ernie” Stocks on September 6, 1968, son, Raymond in 1951 and grandson, Jonathan Thomas in 1995. Margery outlived her 7 sisters and brothers. She is survived by her daughters, Barbara (Kent) Thomas with whom she resided and Gillian (Wayne) Welge of Spring Branch, Texas; grandchildren, Chris, Shane (Suzi), Jeremy (Misty), Tiffany (John), Christina (Fiancé Chris) and Logan and 5 great grandchildren. She was blessed with numerous nieces and nephews both in New York and the UK. She has 2 special sisters-in-law, Emily & Betty in England; also special cousin, Anne & John and family of NSW, Australia. Margery was a 52 year member of the Oakwood United Methodist Church in Elmira Heights. She was a past matron of the Alert Chapter in Elmira Heights, and a current member of the Elmira – Horseheads Chapter. She was employed by Bell’s Pantry in Elmira Heights. Margery enjoyed past matrons, Red Hatters and was very active in her church. Family and friends are invited to call at the Barber Funeral Home 413 S. Main St. Horseheads on Saturday February 4, 2012 from 2:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. Her service will follow there at the funeral home at 5:00 p.m. Interment will be on Monday, February 6, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at Woodlawn Cemetery.
