Obituary of Kerwin C. Playfoot Jr.

PLAYFOOT, Kerwin Clifford Jr., Age 44, of Horseheads passed away peacefully at home on Sunday Feb. 5, 2012. Kerwin was born June 9, 1967 in Elmira, NY, to Kerwin & Aileen Playfoot. He was a lifetime resident of Horseheads and a graduate of GST BOCES special education program. Kerwin participated in scouts for most of his life, up until his death. He was proud of his scouting achievements and had many friends in Troop #154, Kerwin received Boy Scout's highest achievement of Eagle Scout in 1994. He was a Special Olympics participant many years and enjoyed his voluntary work through Able 2, particularly his time working with Elcor, Meals on Wheels, & the Horseheads Animal Shelter. Kerwin enjoyed photography, Scouting, eating out & meeting people. Being an avid photographer he was also a member of the Photography Club at Able 2. He loved his family and friends and treasured the time he spent with them. Kerwin is survived by his parents, Kerwin & Aileen (Baker) Playfoot of Horseheads, NY; Sister, Kathryn (John) A. Wagner of Rochester, NY with their family, John Paul, Casey and Jessica; Sister, Kristine (Simon) M. Shaw of Perth, Australia and their daughter, Savannah. Family and friends are invited to call at the Barber Funeral Home 413 S. Main St. Horseheads on Thursday Feb. 9, 2012 from 2-4:00 and 6-8:00 pm. His service will take place there on Friday at 10:00 am with graveside service to follow in Maple Grove Cemetery in Horseheads.
