Obituary of James A. Scott
SCOTT, James A. Sr.
Age 81 of Big Flats, NY passed away Aug. 6, 2012.
He was born in Nicaragua Apr. 17, 1931 to the late Rev. Charles and Lola Scott.
He is survived by his wife Bonnie (Smeal) Scott;
Sons,
James (Carol) Scott Jr. of Horseheads, NY
Robert Scott of Big Flats, NY,
Grandchildren, Christopher (Angela) Scott, Lori (Brian) Kelsall;
Great grandchildren, Michael Scott and Allison and Brianna Kelsall.
Several nieces and nephews.
He was also predeceased by his son, Daniel Scott in 1989 and daughter, Elizabeth Susan Scott in 1980.
As well as his brothers, John, Charles and Thomas Scott.
James was a graduate of Houghton College and Elmira College. He was a veteran of the US Army having served in the Signal Corps at the White House. He was a retired Technical Writer with Westinghouse in Horseheads for over 32 years.
James was also a longtime member, Trustee, Sunday School teacher, and treasurer for 20 years of the Community Wesleyan Church in Horseheads.
James was also a member of the Elmira Men’s Chorus and Toastmasters. He was also an avid Ham Radio operator W2CMY and faithful volunteer at Bethany Village.
Family and friends are invited to call at the Barber Funeral Home 413 S. Main St. Horseheads, NY on Thurs Aug. 9, 2012 from 4-7:00 pm. His service will be celebrated on Friday at 10:00 am in the Community Wesleyan Church 2095 Grand Central Ave. Horseheads.
Burial service with military honors to follow in Bentley Creek Cemetery.
