Obituary of Daniel E. Hull

Daniel Eugene Hull of 50 Orchard Drive, Big Flats, NY formerly of 48 Beers Hill Road, Horseheads, NY passed away peacefully on September 24, 2012 at home. He was born May 14, 1928, the son of the late Clifford and Edith (Elmendorf) Hull. Dan was preceded in death by his grandson, Adam Logan Carpenter. Dan graduated from University of Connecticut and received his master’s degree in wildlife management from Cornell University. Dan served two years in the US Army and was a Korean War Veteran. He is survived by his wife, Barbara; daughters Carolyn Kearney (Jim) of Gaithersburg, MD; Betsy Hull (Andie) of Corning, NY; Kathy Carpenter (Todd) of Big Flats, NY and DeeDee Brown (Rick) of S. Dartmouth, MA; brother, Clifford Oakley Hull (Marion) and sister-in-law, Georgia Smith; grandchildren, Erin and Daniel Kearney, Megan and Molly Brown, Logan Carpenter, Shannon Hillman and Ariel Haradon; two great-grandchildren Lily Ava and Eliza Jane and a niece and several nephews. Dan worked in inventory control/production planning for Corning Glass Works followed by fifteen years of consulting. Dan was a member of First United Methodist Church of Horseheads. He served on the Boards of Capabilities and Tanglewood Nature Center and was an avid volunteer for the Horseheads Food Pantry. A gentleman, always with a smile on his face, Dan was happiest being with his friends and family, playing tennis, gardening and teaching his children and grandchildren about the wonders of nature. Family and friends are invited to call at the First United Methodist Church of Horseheads 10:00 am - 11:00 am prior to a service to celebrate Dan’s life at 11:00 am on Saturday, October 20th, with the Rev. Rhonda Kouterick officiating; Burial service to follow at Woodlawn Cemetery.
