Obituary of John J. Cerio

CERIO, John J. age 62 of Grand Central Ave. in Horseheads passed away unexpectedly as result of an automobile accident Mar. 19, 2010. He was born Aug. 19, 1947 in Elmira, NY. He was predeceased by his father, Mathew Cerio. John is survived by his wife Linda (Ballinger) Cerio; mother, Elvira Cerio of Horseheads, NY; daughters, Suzette Morgan of Elmira, NY, Claudia (Chris) Cerio of Horseheads, NY, Kara (Ben) Clark of Horseheads, NY; sister, Grace (George) Medwick Kennett Square, PA; brother, Gary Cerio of Horseheads, NY; many grandchildren; his wife Linda’s daughters and son, Jerry (Daphney) Warren of Owasa, OK, Janice Pritchard of Milford, PA, Liz (Mike) Jett of Gaston, SC; brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law and several nieces and nephews. John was a graduate of Horseheads High School and the Univ. of Arizona. He was employed at Cornell Univ. and just recently retired after 26 years of service from the University as their Transit Coordinator. He was an active member of local bible study. John was an avid Train and Zeppelin Enthusiast. As a student of Archeology he was always intrigued by the study of Egyptology. He was an honest and kind “gentle-man” and loved by his family and many friends. Family and friends are invited to call at the Barber Funeral Home 413 So. Main St. Horseheads, today, Tuesday Mar. 23, 2010 from 2-4:00 and 7-9:00 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place in St. Mary Our Mother Church 816 W. Broad St. Horseheads on Wed. Mar. 24, 2010 at 10:00 am with the Rev. Christopher R. Linsler, Celebrant. Interment to follow in St. Mary Our Mother Cemetery.
