Obituary of Herrick ""Smitty"" A. Smith Jr.

SMITH, Herrick A. Jr. “Smitty” Age 93 of Ridge Road, Horseheads, passed away at home Sat. July 6, 2013. Smitty was born Dec. 29, 1919 in Richmond, VA to Herrick Smith Sr. and Caroline Locke He was predeceased by Betty, his wife of 65 years on March 25, 2010. Survivors include a nephew, Timothy (Gale) Wheeler of Richmond, VA; God-daughter, Ronalee (John) DeMarchis of Big Flats, NY; and many friends and neighbors. Smitty was a veteran of the US Army Air force. He was a member of Lake St. Presbyterian Church as was retired in 1982 as the service manager for Ryders Kitchen in Elmira where he worked for over 30 years. Smitty was also accomplished photographer. Family and friends are invited to call at the Barber Funeral Home, 413 S. Main St., Horseheads, on Wed. July 10, 2013 from 1-2:00 pm. His service will follow there at 2:00 pm. Burial in Woodlawn Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
