Obituary of Frances J. Strong

Frances J. Strong “Tweet” Age 52 of Breesport passed away at home after a courageous battle with cancer on January 8, 2014. She was born in Elmira July 9, 1961 to James and Frances (Wheaton) Lyon. She was predeceased by her husband, Michael and is survived by her daughters and son, Melanie (William) Chaffee, Michael (Nicole Thomas) Strong, Bonnie Strong and Misty Strong all of Breeport; grandchildren, William and Reilly Chaffee and Michael Strong III; brothers, Jim (Darlene) Lyon of Sullivanville, Sandy (William) McCormick of Erin, Fred (Ann Stratton) Lyon of Montour Falls, Michael Lyon of Elmira Heights, and Sara (Gary) Harvey of Horseheads; special sister, Carol (John) Combs of Florida; many nieces, nephews, and extended Strong family members including in-laws, Norm and Eloise Strong. Tweet was a dedicated homemaker and devoted mother, wife, grandmother and friend to many. She was an avid card player especially “Euchre”.She enjoyed music including Boston and Styx. Family and friends are invited to call at the Barber Funeral Home, 413 South Main Street, Horseheads on Monday, January 13, 2014 from 4-6:00 p.m. Her service will follow at 6:00 p.m. with her cousin, The Rev.
