Obituary of J. Larry Clark
CLARK, J. Larry,
age 67 of Horseheads, New York passed away unexpectedly on Monday January 20, 2014 at Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre, PA. Larry was born in Elmira, NY on July 6, 1946 to Charles and Ethel (Votava) Clark.
He is survived by his wife and high school sweetheart, Barbara (Kolcun) Clark; daughters, Stephanie (Bryan) Goldstein of Pennsburg, PA and Jennifer Turpin of Horseheads, NY; grandchildren, Alexander, Nicole, Skyler and Natalee; beloved dog and faithful companion, Mandy; brothers and sister, Thomas Clark and Shirley (David) Clemens all of Arizona and James (Fayne) Clark of San Angelo, TX, sister-in-law, Sharon Clark of Reddick, FL; several nieces, nephews and a host of friends and acquaintances.
In addition to his parents, Charles and Ethel Clark, Larry was also predeceased by his brother, C. Robert “Bob” Clark.
Larry owned and operated Clark Sewing Center in Horseheads until 1993. He recently retired from the Elmira Savings Bank Advisory Services as a Financial Advisor. He remained active in the Insurance field operating the J.L. Clark Agency. He was active in his community as a member of the Horseheads Village Board of Trustees,
past member of the Village Zoning Board of Appeals, past President and board member of the Horseheads Youth Bureau, as well as a member of the Board of the Chemung County Youth Bureau.
He was also a board member of RSVP in Chemung County, member and Past Master of the Horseheads Old Oak Masonic Lodge #364 F & A.M. member and past Exalted Ruler of Horseheads Elks Lodge # 2297, proud US Army Veteran and communicant of St. Mary Our Mother Church in Horseheads.
Family and friends are invited to call at the Barber Funeral Home 413 S. Main St. Horseheads on Friday January 24, 2014 from 2-4:00 and again from 6-8:00 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will celebrated in St. Mary Our Mother Church, 816 W. Broad St. Horseheads on Sat. Jan. 25, 2014 at 9:30 am, The Rev. Christopher E. Linsler, Celebrant. Burial with military honors to follow in St. Peter & Paul’s Cemetery.
Notice: Officers and members of the Order of Free and Accepted Masons will gather at the Barber Funeral Home in Horseheads on Friday Evening at 7:45 pm to conduct a memorial service for their departed brother.
