Obituary of Diane M Mathew

MATHEW, Diane M. Age 43 of Elmira passed away after a long battle with cancer on Sun. June 22, 2014 at home surrounded by her family and friends. Diane was born in Sayre, PA to Robert Thompson and the late Doreen Taylor Thompson. She is survived by her husband and best friend, Mark Mathew of Elmira Sons, Christopher, Steven, and Daniel Mathew; Sisters, Beth Ann Mattison of Corning Kay Thompson of Michigan, Brother, Dale Thompson of Elmira; Father-in-law, Robert Mathew of Big Flats, Sister-in-law, Joanne (Ray) Parker of Lowman, Brothers-in-law, John ( Terri O’Brien) Mathew Etters, PA, Robert (Moriah) Mathew Jr. of Granite Falls, WA Many nieces and nephews including, Taylor and Lindsey Thompson, Michael Mattison and Cody Moore, Sara Truman, Holly and Michael Talmage along with aunts, uncles and a host of caring friends and neighbors including, Laura and David Taylor of Mesa, AZ, Wendy Depew of Sayre, PA and Kristen Elston of Tioga, NY, Trish Maynard of Columbia, SC, Susie Jackson of Newfield, NY, and Rich Townson of Elmira, She was also predeceased by her mother, Doreen Thompson and mother-in-law, Donna Mathew. Diane was employed as an Administrative Assistant in the Trusts, Estates and Gift Planning Department at Cornell University. She was a dedicated friend, devoted wife and loving mother. Diane never gave up- Her courage, perseverance and beautiful smile always remained constant with whatever challenge she was faced with. She was actively involved with “Mayflowers” online support group for those who were faced with similar circumstances. Family and friends are invited to call at the Barber Funeral Home 413 S. Main St. Horseheads, NY on Thurs June 26, 2014 from 2-4:00 and again from 6-8:00 pm. A service celebrating her life will take place in the Sayre Christian Church, 427 So. Keystone Ave., Sayre PA 18840 on Friday June 27, 2014 at 11:00 am Burial service will follow Tioga Point Cemetery.
