Obituary of Paul E. Owen

Owen, Paul E. Paul E. Owen, age 86, of Horseheads, NY, died on Thursday, July 17, 2014. Paul was born February 20, 1928, to Abner and Mary Owen. He was predeceased by grandaughter, Katherine Elizabeth; and brothers, James, Lawrence and William. Paul is survived by his wife of 57 years, Jacqualyne; children and grandchildren, Tom and Maureen Owen and daughter, Madalyn; Tim and Mary Therese Owen and children, Samantha and Sean Paul; Erin Marie and Harry Hillson and children, Taylor, Jacqualyne, Alison and Kipp; Terry Owen; sister-in-law, Myrta Owen; several nieces and nephews. Paul was a communicant of St. Mary Our Mother Church, Horseheads. After graduating from Elmira Catholic High School in 1945, Paul obtained his degrees from SUNY Geneseo and Cornell University. He and Jacqualyne were married on August 17, 1957. Paul was a U.S. Army Veteran serving during the Korean War. He worked for the Horseheads Central School District for 32 years beginning as a teacher, then principal and retired as Personnel Director. Paul was a longtime high school football official and a member of the Relaxed Squares Dancing Club. Paul’s family would like to extend its gratitude to the staff at the Chemung County Nursing Facility for the care they provided to Paul. Family and friends may call at the Barber Funeral Home, Inc., 413 S. Main St., Horseheads on Sunday July 20, 2014 from 4:00 to 7:00 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday at 11:00 am in St. Mary Our Mother Church, 816 W.
