Edward W. Bastilla, Sr.
Age 83 and former long time resident of Lynwood Ave. Elmira Heights passed away August 27, 2014. He was predeceased by his daughter-in-law, Kathleen D. Bastilla in 2009. Ed is survived by his wife, Joyce; sons, Stanley Bastilla and Edward Bastilla Jr.; daughter, Deborah Lowe all of Elmira; grandchildren, Tom Lowe, Heather Hancock, Amber Gibson, Brandon (Cristal) Bastilla; great grandchildren, Corynn, Carley, Zamber, Hunter, Khristian, Craig, Heavena, Mystica, Tristan, and Julian; siblings, Melly, Jean and Tom. Ed retired from American LaFrance in Elmira. He was a member of Oakwood Methodist Church and both the Elmira Heights Lodge #913 where he was Past Master and also member of Horseheads Old Oak Lodge #364 F. & A.M and 32 degree mason and member of Corning Consistory. Ed was a veteran of the US Army and member of the American Legion. While working at American LaFrance, Ed was coach to their Championship Basketball Team. Ed was involved in local youth baseball where he umpired for many years and Boy Scout Troop #13 at Oakwood United Methodist Church. He was also a NY Yankee Fan. Ed was happy to be involved with the Democratic Party and the National Convention. Family and friends are invited to call at the Barber Funeral Home, Inc., 413 South Main Street, Horseheads on Wednesday, Sept. 3, 2014, from 4-6:00 pm; his service will follow at 6:30 pm. Graveside service with military honors in Maple Grove Cemetery.
NOTICE: Officers and members of Horseheads Old Oak Lodge will gather at the funeral home on Wed. at 6:00 pm to conduct a memorial service for their departed brother.
