Dorothy E. Taylor
Age 87 of Elmira Heights passed away Sun. July 6, 2014. Dorothy was born July 11, 1926 in Rochester, NY. She is survived by her husband of 68 years, Edward Taylor. In addition to her husband she is survived by sons and daughter, Thomas E. (Marlene) Taylor Waterloo, NY, Gene Taylor of Elmira Heights, NY, Debbie of Hoosick Falls, NY, Mark A. (Lil) Taylor Sr., of Big Flats, NY; 9 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; numerous step grandchildren. She was also predeceased by her brother, William Miller and grandson, Thomas E. Taylor Jr. “Dot” was known as the Clerk Treasure for Elmira Heights, retiring in 1990. She was treasure for Elmira Heights Historical Society, volunteered countless hours to the Elmira Heights Library, Elcor Nursing Facility, Child Character Education Program, local Food Pantry and Villa Serene. Dot was one of the first ushers at The Elmira Clemens Center, Treasurer for Harris Hill Youth Camp, was a longtime member of Hillcrest Baptist Church, Sunday School Superintend, Sunday School Teacher, Pioneer Girls, Women for Mission. In recent years, she spent over a decade photographing Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny at The Arnot Mall. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Family and friends are invited to call at the Barber Funeral Home 413 South Main Street, Horseheads on Wednesday, July 9th, 2014 from 5-8:00 pm. Her service will be celebrated at the funeral home on Thursday, July 10th, 2014 at 10:00a.m. Graveside service will follow in Woodlawn National Cemetery at 11:00a.m. In lieu of flowers, those wishing may remember Dot with memorials to Elmira Heights Historical Society, P.O.
