Carlyle D. Ripley, Jr. Age 68 and long time resident of Pine Valley passed away unexpectedly on July 19, 2014. He was born in Elmira on February 6, 1946 to Carlyle and Doris (Andrus) Ripley Sr. He is survived by his wife, Rose (Forker) Ripley; children, Tonia (Ricky) Mobus of Frackville, PA, Carlyle (Laurie) Ripley III of Horseheads, Todd (Shonette) Ripley of Salt Lake City UT Tami (Thomas) Mallare of Elmira Heights, Melanie Peters of Watkins Glen; grandchildren, Marissa Mobus, Ronald (Stephanie) Getter, David (Laura) Getter, Steven (Justine) Phelps, Stacy (Richard) Bathrick, Emily (Tim) Lando, Kara Ripley, Devin (Brittany) Van Ostrand, Tyler Robinson, Sadie-Ann West, Emiliano Mallare, Emma Mallare, Oksana Mallare, Ossiana Mallare, Octavio Mallare, Joseph Rockwell, Jessica Peters; great grandchildren, Alexis Bathrick, Amanda Bathrick, Isabella Lando, Ollie Van Ostrand, and Rielin Ripley; In laws, Sandy (Harry) VanHorn, Anita (Mike) Hesser, John (Charlene) Ketter Vernon Austin, Ray (Cathy) Forker, Keith (Violet) Benjamin, Rod (Pam) Taft, Cindy (John Barbieri) Peterson, Anna Woodward; mother-in-law, Vera Mahar. In addition to his parents he was also predeceased by his father-in-law, Ray Forker Jr. mother-in-law, Marie Sherwood; brothers, Duane and Gerald Ripley, granddaughter, Cheyenne Mobus; brothers-in-law, Jerry and Bill Austin, former spouses and friends, Sharon Smith and Joanne Ripley and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Carlyle was “Collector of Fine Debris” and also was owner operator of Valley Improvements/The Vintage Depot in Pine Valley. He was a veteran of the US Army and member of American Legion Horseheads Post 442. While serving in the US Army he was proud to be part of the Military Honor Guard and specifically was the caretaker for the presidential horse “Black Jack”. He loved NASCAR and was a devoted Elvis Fan. He was previously employed at Blue Manufacturing, General Crushed Stone in Horseheads and International Salt. Family and friends are invited to call at the Barber Funeral Home, Inc., 413 South Main St. Horseheads on Thursday, July 24, 2014 from 6-8:00 pm where his service will follow at 8:00 pm. Burial in Pine Valley Cemetery at the convenience of his family.
