Obituary of Hazel G. Bennett

BENNETT, Hazel G. (Gingrich) Age 102 and long time resident of Elmira passed away on Dec. 11, 2014 in Virginia. She was born in Northumberland, PA to Adam and Minnie (Wagner) Gingrich. Hazel was predeceased by her husband, Harold Bennett Sr. in 1972 and Son, Roger Bennett in 2011. Her surviving family includes her Daughter, Susan (Walter) Personius of Fredericksburg, VA; Son, Harold (Sarah Given) Bennett Jr.. of Chittenango, NY; Daughter-in-law, Dorothy Bennett of Horseheads, NY; Grandchildren, Kristen Bennett, Sheryl (Greg) Pastalan, Adam (Traci) Bennett, Roger (Joyel) Bennett, Jay (Kristen) Personius, Mark (Nicole) Bennett, Alex (Kristine) Personius, John (Mary) Personius and Beth (Joe) Valasko; 17 Great grandchildren; Sisters, Janett Tupiczak of New Berlin, WI; Lorraine (Warren) Adair of Elmira, NY and several nieces and nephews. She was also predeceased by her brothers, Claude, Adam Jr., Francis, and Robert Gingrich and sister, Pearl Goodall. Hazel retired in 1983 from the Horseheads Central School District where she taught 1st grade at Center St. for many of her over 40 year teaching career. She was a member of the Zonta Club, Alpha Delta Kappa ,EARTA-Elmira Area Retired Teachers Assoc., Horseheads Retired Teachers Assoc. and local area AARP, She was also a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church. Family and friends are invited to call at the Barber Funeral Home 413 S. Main St. Horseheads on Tuesday Dec. 16, 2014 from 1-3:00 and 5-7:00 pm. Her service will take place on Wed.
