I was so sorry to hear of Ray's passing. He was one of the founding members of the Chemung County Child Care Council and was one of the first DSS Commissoners in the state to contract out day care services. The Council still provides these services today. He served on our Board of Directors for many years. When I think of Ray I think of his quick wit; his compassion, his need to make sense of the sometimes senseless rules and regulations, his kind smiling face, and his dedication to make the lives of those around him better whether it be family, friends, staff, clients or someone he just met. He will be missed but his legacy will continue here in Chemung County. Rest in Peace Ray.

Ray was my Mentor and Friend since 1972. As a Human Service worker I worked with Ray in many capacities, on local Boards as well as in program development. His leadership, sharp thought process and wit were so appreciated by the community. Ray was a ""pioneer"", always willing to take the risk if it meant that a better quality of life would result. His spirit will live on in all of us who knew him. His presence was a gift to this world. I will deeply miss him. And to his Family, my heartfelt sympathy for your loss.
