Obituary of Ralph L Root

ROOT, Ralph L. Age 80 of Snake Hill Rd. in Horsheads passed away Tue. Jun 8, 2010 at the Bath VA Medical Center. Ralph was born Sept. 13, 1929 in Hornell NY the son of the late Lloyd and Christine (Parsons) Root. He was predeceased by his wife Evelyn Faye Root in 2007 and recently his daughter-in-law Kathryn (Callihan) Root in January or this year. He is survived by his son, Ronald Root of Millport; grandchildren, Jonan (Apryl Hendricks) Root of Newport News, VA, Caylen (Katelyn) Root of Parkersburg, WV, Arika (Frank Chalk Jr.) Root of Rochester, NY and Gavin Root of Millport, NY; two great granddaughters, Joselyn Taylor and McKenna Rose. sisters, JoAnn Bouse of Florida, Jeanne (Jim) Eastwood of Corning, NY and Susan (Ralph) Larson of Watkins Glen, NY; several nieces, nephew, friends and patrons. Ralph owned and operated Ralph Root’s Farm and Nursery on Snake Hill Rd. in Horseheads for many years. In addition, he was a charter member of the Church of Christ in Horseheads and spent many hours in the original construction of the present building. He was also a veteran of the US Airforce serving during the Korean War. Family and friends are invited to call at the Church of Christ 165 Miller St. Horseheads, NY on Friday June 11, 2010 from 5-7:00 pm. His service will take place in the Church of Christ on Miller Street, Horseheads on Friday at the conclusion of calling hours at 7:00 pm. Graveside committal service with military honors will take place on Saturday at 10:00 am in Maple Grove Cemetery in Horseheads.
