Obituary of Richard L. Tenny Sr.

TENNY, Richard L. Sr. age 59 of Breesport, NY passed away on July 14, 2010 after a brief battle with cancer with his loving family at his side. Dick is survived by his former wife and the love of his life, Antoinette L. “Toni” Tenny of Breesport; children, Richard L. “Rick” (Shay) Tenny Jr. of Horseheads, NY, Jeffery “Jeff” L. Tenny of Horseheads, NY, Eric L. (Ashley Ayres and Aubrey) Tenny of Elmira, NY; grandchildren, Jasmine, Lily, and Hannah; brothers and sisters, Sharon ( Earl) Bush of Erin, NY, William Tenny Jr. of Corning, NY, James (Rita) Tenny of Elmira, NY, Linda Tenny of Horseheads, NY, Harvey Tenny of Elmira Heights, Harold (Annette) Tenny of Danbury, NC; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends. Predeceased by his parents, William and Florence Tenny, sister, Joanne Wilcox, brother, Charles Tenny and nephew, William “Billy” Tenny III; Dick was a graduate of Horsheads High School Class of 1969. Upon graduation he was employed at the A & P Plant in Horseheads while also serving in the US Army reserves. More recently he was employed as a supervisor for Ameripride Linen in Owego, NY, for over 20 years. He also enjoyed his membership at the White Eagles Club in Elmira, NY where he treasured being surrounded by the love and laughter of his many good friends, especially his brother Jim. Dick was a diehard NY Yankee fan, avid NASCAR and Bodine Fan. He loved Elvis and all country music, spending time outdoors, and anything and everything about Christmas. He especially cherished time spent with Rick, Jeff and Eric to which they all profess “He was truly in our eyes the BEST dad in the whole world” He will always be sorely be missed by all of them. Dick will be sorely missed by ALL whose lives he touched. Family and friends are invited to call at the Barber Funeral Home 413 S. Main St. Horseheads on Tuesday July 20, 2010 from 3-5:00 pm.
