Obituary of Nichole Lynn Backus

Nichole Lynn Backus, 37 of Elmira Heights, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, January 26, 2020 at the Arnot Ogden Medical Center. Nichole, or Niki as her family and friends called her, was born September 8, 1982 in Elmira to David and Donna (Lattin) Backus. Niki is survived by her parents; daughters, Britney (Brian Wilcox) Slater of Lindley, and Isabella Jaynes of Montour Falls; son, Austin Jackson of Erin; grandaughter Genevieve Slater; sister Renee Backus of Elmira Heights; along with several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews. Niki attended Odessa Montour High School. She worked several jobs, including Dunkin Donuts, Demets Candy, Dandy, Byrne Dairy, and several hotels. There will be no calling hours. A graveside memorial will be conducted at a later date this spring.
