From: Uncle Chuck: To My Favorite Nephew
You dumb son of a B*&$#
We shot guns, we laughed
We cried we suffered
Loss for those that died
We turned wrenches on
Cars and stuff. You took
My kids you found love and things.
We rode to the river and back and
Crashed and laughed had
Another beer cause Kathy was
Mad at us. I hope you’re
Happy with Dad cause that’s
Where you always wanted to be.
You would have had a good life
With us and family but had demons that
You couldn’t escape. Our love
For you will never die.
Be true, be happy,
YOU’RE MY FAVORITE NEPHEW
From your cousin Nick Comfort:
Well besides fun times at camp. I remember when my car broke-down in Elmira and I was going to be late to work and James came and helped me get it started before he went to work. It meant so much to me. Just a young man, my cousin, that would take his shirt off his back for me. When I dated my ex who was going to Elmira College James and I got to hang out quite often. But him dropping everything to help me get my car started meant a lot to me. Thank you James. You are a true friend and cousin. I will miss your laughter and smile.
From Mom: James was my best friend. His honesty, love, patience, kindness and faith was present in all of his actions. He was my best friend. He survived the death of his dad at the young age of 10. He was a mechanic and later found his true passion in painting vehicles. His latest endeavor was painting fire trucks at Ward Apparatus in Horseheads. He loved his family and family of friends. Trey Young was his best friend and “brother.” He gave his all in everything he approached in life. I was excited when I learned that 2 weeks ago he thanked his good friend Brian Gee for helping him to bring God back into his life. Here is a quote I found on his cell phone: “Love someone who is kinder to you than you are to yourself” –Nikita Gill. One more quote “Guys, close your eyes. Imagine you have a daughter dating a guy just like you. Did you smile? No? Then change.”
Thank you to all who brought joy to James’ life. He loved completely, gave sincerely, and genuinely loved to help those who needed it. To his friends I thank you for being there for him every day. Dear Meg & Myla, know James is watching over you always. Let the love of God be your guide. I love James with all my heart. I always told him he was my “sonshine”. He always called me momma. God Bless you All.
