Obituary of Suzanne Murphy
MURPHY, Suzanne
Age 83 of Horseheads, formerly of Erin. She was born June 2, 1937, daughter of the late Herman and M. Helen Messing and passed away on Sunday, February 7th 2021. She was predeceased by her husband Clayton Murphy; son Alva Hill; and her grandson A.J. Hill. Suzanne is survived by her children Pamela (David) Turner; Jan Hill; Tom (Patty) Hill, Gwendolyn (Don) Rosekrans; grandchildren Caroline Watachi (Chris Snyder), Marshall (Jessica) Turner, Cory Hill (Madison Grant), Natalina Hill (Jesse King), Caren Hill (Kevin Clark), Danielle, Eric Hill, Felicia (Jason) Hyde, Celest (Ramon) Carrion, Cory Prettyman, and Aiyana Stansfield; great grandchildren Morgan, Blake, Cadence, Madison, Payton, Theo, Zia, Gavin, Izabella, Kaidyn, Colsen, Quinton, Evoley, Jojo, Viginia, Josiah, Avanti, Julius, Leon, Nikoli, and Alex; brother David (Janis) Messing; nephew Josh Messing (Julie Podsklny); great nephew Hudson; sisters and brothers in law, Barbara (Bernie) Grebleski and Don (Ruth) Hill; much loved former daughters in law, Eleanor Philips, and Betsy Rigano; former granddaughter in law Nichole Andrews; along with several nieces, nephews, and grand nieces and nephews. Suzanne graduated from Southside High School and Business School. She worked on the family dairy farm, Bi-Sue Registered Holsteins, for many years before its sale. She then went to work at STC BOCES from many years until her retirement. She travelled extensively after retiring, taking trips with her husband Clayton, her brother David, and sist in law Janice Messing. Suzanne enjoyed writing for local publication, cooking, and participating in the Church when she was able. Most of all she enjoyed her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren, along with her nieces, and nephews. One of her greatest joys was holding and rocking a baby. Suzanne was a wonderful listener, and will be greatly missed. Family and friends are invited to visit the Barber Funeral Home, 413 S. Main St., in Horseheads, NY, on Thursday, February 11th 2021 from 2 pm to 4 pm. Her funeral service will be celebrated at 4pm, along with committal prayers. Masks will be required and social distancing observed. She will be laid to rest in Scotchtown Cemetery in Erin at a later date. In Suzanne’s memory, those wishes are asked to make a donation to your local food pantry.
